While traveling through Meridian, Mississippi, my sister, my niece and I stopped at Mom and Pop's soul food restaurant. Big mistake in every way. First, we had to pay up front for our food before we were able to realize the pure fifth of this restaurant. After we ordered and paid we each needed to use the bathroom, we had been on the road for a while. The tiny one person bathroom of approximately 20 to 25 square feet had about 20 dead roaches all over the floor. Second, our food arrived and the food served was horrendous!!!! We were able to eat only a few bites before throwing it away. The pork ribs were though and under cooked. The turnip greens were cooked to mush and very salty. The yams were sickeningly sweet and cooked to mush. The field peas came straight from a can but with slimy okra added. But the worst of all was the fish. Over cooked, full of bones, and the most awful taste you can imagine. As if it had sat out all day and started to ruin before they cooked it. All 3 meals went in the trash and we took a loss of $60.00. This restaurant did not show up when I searched for it on the health inspector site to file a complaint. It is right off I 20 in Meridian, Mississippi. For the general welfare of the public, this restaurant needs to be inspected.
