Burger King on Hwy 12 East in Koscuisko, MS is experiencing sewage failure at this moment, 6:53 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023. The shift manager was told by her superiors to lock the lobby and continue serving food from a kitchen that has contaminated water backing up through drains in the kitchen. Due to the smell of feces, raw sewage, the manager is uncomfortable with serving food to the public from the kitchen/food prep area. It was reported that the drainage issue has been going on for about 3 weeks. Additionally, the women’s restroom is not working and overflows. There is not appropriate accommodation for the female employees to use the restroom due to drainage issues. The workers use paper towels over the drains to soak up the foul smelling water. They have to sweep up the soaked paper with the same broom that they sweep the dining area with resulting in possibly spreading contamination. All shift workers are walking through the water, possibly splashing it on the food prep bench, and the areas where foods are stored. Drainage water is coming out of the drive through, drink prep area, the center sand which prep area, and the rear of the kitchen. Sadly, my daughter, was pressured by her supervisor to serve food out of a kitchen that may be contaminated with sewage but definitely flooded drain water. Please respond quickly before someone contracts an illness or even worse a deadly pathogen served from this kitchen at Burger King.
