Complaint
I am writing to report a food safety concern regarding Neshoba Mart and Deli located at 1251 Pecan Ave #521, Philadelphia, MS 39350. On September 4, 2024, my 80-year-old grandfather visited the deli around 12:00 p.m. and purchased fried catfish. After consuming one piece, he mentioned that it tasted “off.” By approximately 2:00 p.m., he began experiencing symptoms of foodborne illness, including diarrhea and vomiting, which lasted for several hours. Later that evening, at around 9:30 p.m., his condition worsened, and he was taken to Neshoba General Hospital’s emergency room for treatment. I am concerned that the food served at Neshoba Mart and Deli may have been improperly handled or undercooked, leading to this illness. I respectfully request that your department investigate the food safety practices at this establishment to prevent further incidents. In addition to this correspondence, I have also filed a complaint at the Mississippi Department of Health Food Service information online complaint form.
