Customer's Dog was allowed to walk over and lick meat packages of my food while it was on checkout conveyor belt. Attempts by me to remedy the situation were unsuccessful and checkout clerk didn't remove animal as the customer was screaming at me and the clerk that this was a "service dog" and he would sue. Apparently, this dog has been allowed on the conveyor belt before from the interaction with the clerk and the dog. This is totally unacceptable to have food contaminated by ANY dog service or not. My sister must muzzle her seeing eye dog in any food area or highly public facility. PLUS....this customer's dog was very nasty looking. Please look into this for me as this situation of bending rules only makes it harder for people like my blind sister and others who need assistance.

I spoke by telephone with Andrew Brown, District Manager. The clerk has been counseled on proper handling. We discussed what a service animal can do and can't re food contamination and surfaces touching food. I also advised him on 2 questions he is allowed to ask of someone with a service animal and suggested they seek out extensive training on this from someone more qualified. L Taylor
