The septic system at property 114 CR 160 Shannon MS was installed by the owner of the property. A hole for the septic was dug behind the living residence. The owner of the property dug the hole by hand and it appeared to be less than 6 feet in depth. A plastic 250-300 gallon tote was placed in the hole to act as the septic tank. The top of the tote is estimated to be no more than 6" under the ground. The system does not appear to have a fill line installed and only a short section of pvc was ran from the make shift tank. The run off from the system runs into a ditch behind the property. This ditch flows through the yards of two neighboring properties and into a fishing pond on a third property which then empties into the a ditch running through the yard of a fourth property. This ditch empties into an adjoining property containing pasture and cattle. All properties down hill are potentially affected by the run off which is a potential health and environmental safety hazard.

Investigation History
12/1-site visit. Observed a lot of water in back yard but no smell. Could not find specific place where it is running in the ditch. Spoke with owner and he stated his field line needed some repair. Told him I would,check back in after the holidays
